cab efficiency

Sign in to disble this ad
Times are hard and I need a new cab. had my mind set on a Schroeder 21012 but got to wondering with the efficiency of cabs now a days would a 1012 or a markbass 210 be enough for me. At the most i jam with friends in a basement or if i got back into a band very small venues, I play mostly slap and dubbed out finger style.......using an ampeg svt III pro but may upgrade to a markbass LM III later on..........any opinions are greatly appreciated.

Personally, I'd never use anything smaller than a 2x12 for any kind of band jamminig. I have yet to hear a 2x10 that will give me the volume I want, without straining.

so at the least, I need to add a 112 to the 210, which leads me back to the schroeder 21012. or the 1210 and add a 110.....etc

Lots of people will tell you not to mix speaker sizes. Personally, I think they're probably right, but if you really like it, go for it. Just don't buy blindly, get in a good test run.

I don't have any problem covering rehearsals or reasonable volume small gigs with a 210 but you may want a little more for funkslap or dub stuff. Could probably do what you need to do with 1 good 15.
