Cab to go with a Terror Bass

Sign in to disble this ad
Just picked up a Terror Bass in the classifieds, and I need a cab to go with it. I think I'm looking for a 15", because I primarily play a five string. In my experience, nothing makes a powerful B like a 15 (I know many people disagree with this, and if you do, feel free to give me a different recommendation).

Also, I was told (possibly erroneously) that I need a cabinet rated at 500+ watts for it, or I would damage the cabinet by overpowering it. I was under the impression I could have a 400 watt cab and just not crank the amp and be ok, but I'd like to know for sure.

Thank for any help!

The wattage rating of the cab is not important, really. What is important is sensitivity, and a few other scientific data that's not available to us. What I will say is, the size of the driver has no bearing on how "low" it will go, that's a matter of how the cab is tuned, so a 4x10 can very well go lower than a 15, and be louder too. A single 15 would be difficult to achieve any real volume with, you want a bigger cab with that head. A 4x10 is the standard answer, a 215 or 212 might work as well, but you'd need to test drive them yourself to know what you'd like.
