so I currently have two cabs. One is a Peavey TVX 412, which is loud, awesome, and obscenely heavy (~140lbs). I also have a legion sound 2x12 (which is modeled (read completely copied off of) the aguilar 2x12, with carvin speakers. They both have great vintage tone with my firebass 700 head. I really need to get rid of one of them to help pay some upcoming moving bills, but I can't decide which one, and I like both of them equally.
Also, the band I'm currently playing in has two guitarists playing out of small fender combos (blues jrs, which are 15 w tube amps, with a single 10" speaker).
Do I keep the epicly awesome, but monsterously heavy 412 or the small but great sounding 2x12?

Cheap and great, except for the "up or down stairs" part. I also have reservations about moving it on to and off of stages as an opening band. But damn if it doesn't sound great.
I do, however, turn the tweeter completely off.

So I would then have to sell both and get two new 212s that are production models.

That said, what do you have at home to plug into? Do you have a rehearsal space to keep the 4x12"? Would you(if you don't already) take on a side gig(church, for example)? I used to leave my 2x10" at church; use my 1x15" for rehearsals, and stack the two for gigs. |

You would get more money for the more well know Peavey brand. I agree, the 2-12" is a great cab. Mine looks like hell, but after 4 years, it has payed for itself a few times over.

the Neo is my main gig amp because it is so light and easy to handle.
The Ampeg is a MUST for some of the venues we play without a big PA. I am sorry - no subsitute - so I keep it for big boy work.
It also gets stacked upon once in a great while (avatar on Ampeg)

Why not?
You don't think you could find the cab or you wouldn't be able to afford putting that combo together? I like the original Knight 12"s in mine. Is yours just the standard 24x24x15?

That cab is hard to find. If you decide you want another one you may be SOL.
Plus, you wont get squat for it. I bet you'll get less more cash out of your 212 due to its size and the fact it's not a Peavey.
Use it as a secret weapon, people are crushed by it when I use a powerful amp (Or drop it )
That's My $0.02 |

That's My $0.02 | +1 You are a big strapping young lad. Just think of all the money you will save not having to go to the gym.

Then you end up missing gear, and not nearly having the money that you needed. (as often seems to be the case)
