Cab killer? 500w amp into 200w

So i read up a bit about underpowering cabs, and a bit about overpowering cabs and i seem to be in abit of a predicament:

I have

Orange terror bass - 500w at 4 and 8 ohms
Matamp 212 bass cab - 800w 4ohms

The cab is so heavy that i leave it at the practice space, but now im left without a cab for home practice.

That in itself is not the issue though, the issue is now that im going to be getting a simm-watts pa 100 head, which i can only run at 8ohms.

I thought about the ampeg svt210av - it would work a treat for the simms, but am i going to murder it with a 500w head, even at bedroom levels? I read that max watt output can be reached far before volume gets cranked and dont want to kill a new cab.

At the same time im really taken by the orange sp210 or 212 but similarly i dont want to under power it with a 100w head when it can take 600w

Any suggestion?

Stop reading/believing anything from those sources. Both underpowering and overpowering are as mythical as the Unicorn.

Cheers bill, thats kind of what i was hoping for.

The orange cab size wise wins out for home practoce with the orange head but i dont know if id really want to have the simms head balanced on it for a gig (hands up all you bassists whos amp head is bigger than the cab)

Alternatively i could do small gigs with the simms/ampeg combo an home practice with the same or the orange head, i live at home with my parents - so prolonged cranked sessions just wont happen.
