Cab making a rattling noise

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a peavey tvx 410 and it makes a faint cracking/rattling noise but only on certain notes. It sound like its coming from the horn. However it will not do it when my bass eq is set below 5. Whats wrong?

Sounds like something is loose and whatever note you are hitting matches the resonant frequency of said part that is rattling. Keep on that note and hunt it down and tighten accordingly.

"Rattling": something is loose.

"Crackling": speaker cone damage.

I'd first pop the cover and make sure the speakers are secure...

I'd then make sure the connections are nice and secure....

Then I'd test each driver by itself.

I had a 410TX a long time ago, and the exact same thing happened. After messing with it for weeks, I pulled the horn, turned it upside down over my head and blew in it. Once I washed my eyes out and brushed my teeth, I reinstalled it and the noise was gone...
