Cab shipping question

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi, did a search but haven't found this particular question answered before.
Is there increased danger of speaker damage if I ship a cab on it's back as opposed to vertical or on it's side? These are neo drivers so there won't be a weight strain from a heavy magnet.
Thanks in advance.

Here you go:
Fact or fiction? Transporting a cab lying down is bad for the speaker cones??
However, I am curious as to how you think you'll have any control over which way up it is once the shipping firm has their grubby little mitts on it? A "This Way Up" sticker? Good luck with that!

What do you suppose UPS or Fed Ex do? Who thinks up this stuff we see every few weeks? Is God bored again?

Ok, that's it. I'm shipping it in a freakin' sphere and let the universe sort it out.

No

Had our UPS driver tell me it must be packaged to withstand dropping from the loading dock.
A TB'er shipped me a new old stock bass in a molded plastic case new o/s and it arrived with an impact dent in the case sufficient to cause a hole in it. Also got a Em 3015lf with a cracked frame.
It is luck only.
If you see my stuff offered for sale shipped it's cause I could not sell it local. If you do a search you will find TB members who worked in shipping and will explain intentional abuse by unhappy workers. Good Luck.

Watch the first scene of the first "Ace Ventura" movie to understand how to pack your cab. That thing is going to get tumble/flipped/stuffed sideways into whatever space it takes to pack the load, etc. Pack it to take a drop from all directions, there is no top or bottom, it's a cube.

Yeah, the movie is overdone for humor's sake but not by that much.
