Cab specs for older Hartke 15" Transient Attack

Sign in to disble this ad
Does somebody out there know proper cabinet specs for an (older) Hartke 15" "Transient Attack" driver?
Ze story: I got it in a second-hand homemade cab, which "features" four 12 square inch holes, one in each corner of the front face. No depth to the ports, they're just holes. Quick test drive and although it moves a lot of air there's not much you could call tone.
Budget is tight (noob hobby player here) so i'm hoping to build a proper (at least better) cabinet instead of just chucking it.
Winisd doesn't seem to have the driver, which i guess I expected based on some reading here that Hartke is tight-lipped about specs.
Apologies if already asked/answered. PS New here, and I'm blown away by this website/community. My hat's off to the mod's and contributers

That's a big time fail. Without driver specs you can't get an accurate result, but most drivers work best with 45 to 50 Hz box tuning, so use WinISD to reverse engineer the cab to determine the duct lengths required to fall in that range.

The "Peavey" way of porting a cab . No-depth is inaccurate actually, the lenght of the port is the thickness of the baffle. It's a poor mans way to port a cabinet.

In fact, the cab looks a lot like the peavey "subs" we used to use. The drummer who bought 'em, wasn't satisfied with the drivers, so we swapped them. It's been a while, and I didn't bother saving the results , but IIRC Eminence kappa was a direct replacement.

Hartke is tight lipped about their specs, that's true.
You could reverse-engineer the driver, but that's a lot of work for little benefit.

I'm sure there's someone in TB with that exact cab and can measure the critical dimensions for you.

So, maybe the right move is to build cab for a 15" em kappa, and if it's bad i'll buy one of those?
