Cabinet for my TC Electronic RH450

Sign in to disble this ad
I currently gig ( doing mostly weddings, corporate and private parties) with a TC RH450 head and an Ampeg 1x15 cab. The 2 don't mesh well together as I can't seem to ever get a good sound regardless of which one of my 5 strings I use.I'm considering taking the plunge on matching cabinets ( thinking either the new TC 4x10, or a 2x10/2x12 setup).
Any advice,opinions,experiences?

I just want a cabinet that will compliment the versatility of this amp, while giving me enough volume.I'm doing all styles of music, so I can't say that I'm looking for a very specific sound. It seems like no matter how I tweak the amp, everything comes out muddy.
Funds are a bit of an issue, but I have some gear I'm looking to unload to raise the $.

Every cab without a tweeter that I've played my TC amp through has come out muddy. It sounds decent with most cabs that have a tweeter. Personally, I own a HX112 and it works for me, for all styles of music.

It's hard to advise when your goals seem really broad. ATM I have a Berg HS410 and a pair of Aguilar DB112s, both setups sound "good"... in fact I'm having a hard time deciding which I prefer. The Berg is extremely versatile. The DB's phatter.

And Daryl - I don't find the TC "muddy" ... however ... I did previously own a Walkabout.

I am also very interested in this question.

I currently have an RH450 but only a Mesa WA 1x12 combo cab to run it through. After working through the many EQ and tone shaping options, I can get some good workable sounds out of the RH450 through the Mesa cab. But, this seems a bit redundant, as I already have an amp .. the Walkabout ... to drive the WA 1x12 cab.

I have also read many of the RH450 threads where there is some discussion of cab matching for this amp, and I have not seen too many suggestions.

One option for me would be to check into the TC 2x12, or even 2 x R112 cabs. It sounds as if the cabs are well matched to the somewhat unique engineering goals of the amp.

Outside of the TC cabs, what cabs are folks here having good results with this very cool amp ?

I do see Aguilar DB cabs and someone using GK Neox cabs .. any one else want to offer options ?

for reference, I am playing a range of styles, mostly in the jazz, worldmusic, blues, lighter rock range. I really like my Walkabout, have played it for several years and feel I have tamed some of its bloomy low end tendencies. I also tend towards a more old school, non-shiny high end sort of tone in general. Basses as are listed in my sig.

Thanks

If you are fine with bringing 2cabs, you could go for rs210 & rs212. This is the combo able to offer versatile tonal options. FYI. I own all cabs of RS series.

if only single cab allowed, rs210 is fine as well.
