Cabinet Recommendation

Sign in to disble this ad
I currently play a Fender P Bass with flatwounds through a Genz Benz 600 head and an Avatar 2x12 Neo cabinet. I rarely slap; more of a steady bottom guy, and I want to add a second cabinet to move more air.
So do I go with another 2x12, a 4x10 or an Avatar TB153?

Another identical cab is ALWAYS the best option.

If you love your current tone but just want more of it -> add another 2x12.
If you want something a bit different I would go for the TB153 or a 2x15 cab.

I have 2 2x12 cabs and a 2x15 cab.
Using both 2x12's isn't bad or anything I'm just completely hooked on using the 2x15 + one 2x12.
Even when I'm only playing a 4 string or a EADGC setup 5 string the 2x15 really adds to the bottom end.

Everyone has different taste - best bet is to go play through a few cabs at a store and see what fits your style, or would add to it

I use a 212 and 115 cab with my Mark Hoppus strung with flatwounds. Just coincidental that I had that combination, but it sounds really good with the flatwounds.

I run two B212s on occasion and I can vouch for their effectiveness when stacked. You'll be hitting each cab with around three hundred watts. Six hundred watts into four high-Xmax twelves in well-tuned cabs will move air -- set aside your fears . BTW, I play the same tone as you do (for C&W).
