Cabinet Suggestions

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey fellow TBer's !

I am currently running GK 1001 RB - II amp into a 410 and 212 cabinet.
I'd there just ONE cabinet that would give me the highs and lows that I get from these two combined ?

Thanks in advance!

Peace. :^)

4x12 or 8x10 with a tweet? It's hard to be more specific without additional info regarding your current gear and tonal goals.

That's true! Sorry my badd for the lack of info. :^(
I'm using an MTD Kingston ZX 4 into my tuner.... chorus.... ISP noise decimator.... Into a PreSonus preamp into my GK head then cabs. I love the chorus that the 410 reproduces and the low end I get from the 212. Just wondering if there's just one cab that can do all that for me. I feel that the 412 would be too deep sounding for me. I was just using the 212 until I added the 410 to brighten it up a bit. Maybe a 610? If there's such a beast !

Thanks again everyone !

Peace!

Big speakers don't necessarily mean more low end.

Maybe get an 810 with a tweeter or a 412 with one?

It doesn't work like that, ie: big spkrs = low end, small spkrs = high end. The cabs you're using are "full range", as are most ANY bass cab.

There is certainly such a thing as a 6x10 and one of those may suit you well. Keep in mind that driver diameter does not determine the tonal qualities of a cab. 15s can be bright and tight and 10s can be whumpy as all get out. You will find as much variation in tone from one 4x10 to another as you will between a 15" loaded cab and an 8" loaded cab.

Try what you can locally and see what you like. As mentioned, three-way cabs (fEarfull, Avatar, Barefaced, Genz-Benz Uber Quad) are probably worth checking out as well.
