Being that I asked this question before, Ive limited my selection and have a done alot of research. Days of listening, well to the ones I can find clips for, reading reviews, searching this forum etc... My Peavey cab I have now distorts at med to higher volumes and the horn is blown (410).
I use a fair amount of mids, I set an SVT III PRO up with mids and bass @ 12:00 and treble at 3-4:00 for slap and I have the slider EQ set up for a fat, treble cut rock sound. Im looking at these cabs...
Aguilar DB 410... Im concerned with the opinion that it has a mid hump and I already use a good amount of mids in my eqing.
Epifani UL 410... pristine clean is what I keep hearing but is it so uncoloured that is sterile sounding?
Schroeder 410R... Heard some slap clips and it sounds good, but seems to be lacking bottom end thump, a little to hi-fi also. Was it the eq on the amp or does the cab overall sound like this.
I use a Fender AM jazz and a MM sting ray. I play mostly slap or finger style... I prefer the sound of older slap artist to the new modern sounding stuff. Ive listened alot and read more on this site, figured out what I like and am looking for. I think my head will get me there, if I go with a better cab plus a cab at 4 ohms.
Any opinions are greatly appreciated I know this is a redundant subject, especially with me, but this is what I have it narrowed down to and I think these would go good with most heads, rather than going for a GK, mesa, or ampeg cab, just in case I do switch heads in the future.
thanks alot for all the info, as I research stuff to a point of OCD (been like this forever, took me 7 months to choose between a .45 acp and 9 MM even after shooting both.)
