Cabs for a Kustom 200B1

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently ran into a Kustom 200B1 head and picked it up for $150. I'm now wondering what type of cabinet I might be best off running this through.

From what I can tell from some googling is that this amp does 100 watts at 4 ohms. However, a lot of modern cabs seem to be rated at 400w at 8 ohms, so I'm a bit worried that the Kustom 200B1 might not be able to keep up.

Anyone have some suggestions as to what cabs might pair nicely with it, or should I not worry too much about it? I've been looking at the Orange OBC115 and various Ampeg 115s.

thanks!

Kustom amp

I am a Kustom user and have been since the 60s. Those heads will work well with just about any cabinet, but you'll want to go with a 4 ohm total speaker load to be able to get the full power capability of the amp. Also, go with the most efficient cab(s) possible since this amp is 100 watts... but it is a loud 100 watts. Admittedly, this amp just shines with a 4 ohm, 2x15 cabinet!
