Cabs to pair with a Mesa Walkabout

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm looking for a good set of cabs to put with my Walkabout and would appreciate some input from you guys. I like the thought of a 210/115 Mesa Powerhouse combo or a AE210/212 Bergantino combo but am completely open to ideas. I'm looking to go modular with the set up and definitely like my cabs to have a middy punch.

I know I'll need to test out which sounds best, I just want some input. Thanks.

Best setup for me so far has been a pair of Mesa 115 cabs. I almost pulled the trigger on a second Scout 112 to go with my Scout 12 combo but when I actually tried them out in the store, I realized that I have so much more volume and punch using the pair of 115 cabs.

The key to matching cabs to the Walkabout is to use efficient cabs totaling a 4 ohm load as you only have 300 watts to work with. My Walkabout sounds gorgeous with my 8 ohm 410 but runs out of headroom way too fast using that cab.

+1; these amps don't seem to be too picky about cabs in terms of tone but effecieincy is very important. My 4-ohm 1x15 is marginal for a rock band but with a 2x15 4 ohm seems to be just fine

In the WA megathread, there are literally dozens of different cabs that pair well with the WA head. My favorite is a Genz Benz Uber 212 as a one cab rig- and I'll add an 8 ohm Aggie DB112 to that if I need more volume. This 2nd set up runs the WA @ 2.6 ohms, and roughly 500 watts. No sweat, and sounds huge.

You think it would be worth it to get one of the cabs in a 4ohm and one in a 8ohm then? The more I think about it, the more im leaning towards the AE210/AE212 combo
