I've never had my cab's in road cases, but always did my amps. As for tips of moving it, casters are a good way to start, perhaps a two-wheeler or dolly would be another route to look into.

Certainly. Most commercial cabs aren't braced well enough for their panels to be vibration free. Vibrating panels act as midrange sources, which can destructively interact with the output of the drivers. With the cab in the case panel vibration output is suppressed.
In the 60s one of the best sounding lines was the Kustom tuck and roll cabs, because the tuck and roll upholstery damped panel vibrations.

I don't suppose carpeting has the same effect, does it?

It does, but minimally so. And of course the best solution is adequate bracing. Lack of same is probably the #1 shortcut taken by manufacturers, since you can't see it.

So funny that this topic popped up. I just saw a band that had all of their cabs bass and guitar in their road cases. I have to admit I thought it was a big mistake but they sounded fine to my ears.

Not a fan of the look of live-in road cases. But the only times I ever get them is when I get an SVT 810e supplied, and quite honestly, if there was a difference tonally, I didn't hear it.

How can you insult him like that?!!!
Devo fashions are all the rage. Besides I already insulted him years ago. Now we're going out.
