calling all ampeg owners!!!

Hey guys,

i'm about to pull the trigger on another ampeg amp (i have a ba108)

i'm playing rock at home and with a drummer once in a while...

I was about to buy a ba112 but i just thought about the Micro CL.

If you were playing rock, which one would you choose?

I ' m playing a jazz bass and i'm about to buy a p-bass too...

thanks

Frank

I would choose something with enough power to gig with for me.
Pf500,3 pro, 7 pro. Micro VR at least.

+1

I have a SVT3 Pro, mostly play a P bass. Classic sound and lots of power for me.

I use a ba115hp for home practice, band practice, and small venues. For a time it was my only amp, and I used it for big venues too. Its always worked great. I bought an anvil style road case for it. I love this amp and I highly recommend it.

I'm not familiar with the Micro CL but I do own the Micro VR and one cab. I also own the PF500 with 2 HLF15's. I play them in a home studio/office mostly with friends. I am a big fan of the Micro VR. For such a small footprint, it sounds really good and even with just one cab puts out an impressive amount of volume (my opinion).

I would think that the CL holds its own as well. And a PF350 might be a better choice if you're looking for more than 150-200 watts (probably not necessary, though). I also play a Jbass and multiple Pbasses.

The CL ain't bad at all, and the BA112 also is quite good for the money. But the Micro CL will go louder. If you're looking to do some jamming, I would go for the Micro CL, or maybe the BA115 as it's larger and has more wattage than the BA112.

I was first thinking about going with the ba115 but i tried it next to ba112 at the store but prefered the mb112 tone. They had no micro cl in stock. I tried a micro vr, i may be wrong but i felt like the ba112 had a slighlty rounder tone compare to the micro vr. I'd like to get this famous p-bass + svt tone. Since, i read a few times that the weak part of the micro cl, i'm just not sure i wanna go that way.

For the moment, since i loved so much the vt bass pedal i also tried, i may go with a ba112 and the vt bass pedal. The pedal will give me more tonal option and next year i'll get a larger gig if this one doesn't suit my needs.

I went back to university and i have 3 kids so gigging is not part of my plan for at least 3 years

Since you don't like the BA115 (my first choice, given what you want to do with it), I'd strongly suggest the Micro CL or VR. They are much louder and have that SVT sound, so they're great for rock... and they're budget friendly.
