My replacement Tecamp Puma1000 arrived this week (insurance reimbursement from my previous Puma1000 that was stolen last month) and I'm very excited to start using these wonderful heads again.
The head that was stolen was in a Gator 3-space shallow rack that I had used with previous heads, and was placed in there over the Tecamp soft bag that the head came with due to reports of overheating issues when using the head in the bag as it was intended. The problem seems to be, and I agree with this having owned the softbag for a short while, that the mesh screen that provides an opening in the bag for the Puma's fan (on top of the amp) seems to inhibit enough airflow to cause overheating issues that can push the amp into thermal shutdown.
The rack my previous amp was in was stolen with it, so I'm now trying to decide how to "case" this amp. I really liked the design of the Tecamp bag outside of the vent, so I've considered purchasing one, removing the mesh screen and sewing in a flap that I could flip out of the way come gig time, and flip back over and velcroe when it was time to transport the amp. I do enjoy using a rack for the sake of having all of my cables attached at all times, but don't want to go less than 3-spaces since the primary ventilation is on top and I think a 2-space would severely inhibit airflow. I've also considered something like Ken's Mooradian amp bag, or a comparable Gator, Gig Skinz, etc. bag. Lastly I've considered a rack bag, but this has the same problems as a conventional rack in that anything less than 2-spaces might be a problem for the top venting fan.
Any ideas that I'm overlooking? How would you "case" a Puma1000?
1. Tecamp Softbag (modified vent opening idea)
2. 3-space shallow rack/rack bag
3. Mooradian/Gig Skinz/Gator small amp/mixer bag
