Calling all vintage Peavey nuts! Which amps have "Saturation" knobs?

Sign in to disble this ad
So, I'm pretty much in love with my recently acquired Peavey Century Bass 200. The Saturation circuit really fatten things up in a way that I thought only a boutique pedal would for me. It seems to add a parallel distortion to your clean signal and mmmmm. My Ric never sounded so good. I haven't even touched the 1001RB-II in days.

So... calling all you vintage Peavey nuts for info here! What other bass capable amplifiers made by Peavey had these circuits? I want more...

So nothing with more power on tap had the saturation knob? I cant' seem to find very much via google. If worst comes to worst, I'll just slave the GK if I need more guts I suppose.

Go to ebay, and look at every little old peavey there.

Trust me, it works.

I have a Classic 50 guitar combo (2x12) with the saturation circuit.

Sounds good on my bass amp.

I guess I might resort to eBay research...

I gigged for years with a guitar head.. also with a combo amp...

Your time frame you're talking about is about 83-90... you'll have easier times with guitar heads (or combos)

Chances are they'll be scorpion speakers -- PM me if you find one with distortion.. it's a simple fix.

Back in '88 my dad bought me a Century 100 and a 1516 cab. It had the saturation knob. I was still new at bass and didn't know what to do with that, don't think I ever used it.

I use a peavey roadmaster tube head for bass. Early to mid 80s, 160watt.

Absolute beast of an amp.

Some of the old 70s-80s peavey gear was stellar.

Cheers
