Where do you have your input and out put levels set on the amp? And are you plugged into an active or passive(hi or low) input jack? How much do yo have your volume on your bass pushed?

What I did notice is that there is no bass plugged into the amp. It's doing what it should do since no bass is plugged into it. Looking for a line source to latch on to.

What does the amp do when you have a bass plugged into it?

The exact same thing. Whatever guitar/bass i plug in, whatever level the input is.

How long have you owned the amp? And when was the last time the tube was changed?

Its fully solid state. Ive owned it for 4 months. Its stayed in the exact same place ever since, apart from a gentle sesh with a drummer and guitarist.

Never have mine on without a bass plugged in first.
But, no i don't get the reaction you're getting.

So with:

Input Level at zero

Compression IN and all the way up

EQ high-treble maxed out

You dont get a maxed VU meter?

Can somebody verify this with a MAG or EB head/combo?

No tubes, do you think 2 miles of smooth road in a transit van might have done any damage? Thats the only movement its ever had.

Yeh, but something suddenly occured to me when i looked in the manual for the combo.

It said that with the compression turn up high, background noise may appear.

I was wondering if the high level of treble was emphasising any background noise that was going on.

I may be talking rubbish.
