Can An Amp Be Safely Powered On Without An Impedance Load?

Just wondering, tried the search function and found nothing. I would like to buy a TC RH450 and use it as a preamp into my laptop whenever I am not at a rehearsal/gig but I didn't know about not having it plugged into a legitimate speaker cabinet, potentially harming something.

What MOses said. I remember watching a video about the RH450 and they talked about the headphone jack and said it was perfect bringing into a hotel and practicing while you're on the road.
