Hi. I need help getting my new amp set for death metal. It's a TranZamp B15 bass amp. I need to know what to set the High, Mid, and Low knobs to. They go from -15 to +15. Can any one help my?

I'd start with them all at zero, and then make minor adjustments to taste. Over-EQ'ing often destroys tone.

for me...not that I play in a death metal band (we are more Crossover/thrash), but definitely play with enough of them, the lower, or "bassier" the sound is, the more it gets lost in the sonic flurry and fury of notes happening in death metal. For clarity, my ears always want to hear a little more mid, but not hi-mids..like between 1k-8k...more like 250mh - 1k.

I think a lot of it depends on what you are actually playing. If you are just following the roots of the guitars your sound can be a bit more bassy, but if you are shredding, all of that rumble can muddy the notes. I think some people misconstrue "more bass" with "heavy"...it usually equals "muddy" or unclear

Definitely avoid any distortion/overdrive...

Once again, these are just my opinions of what I have heard over the last 25 years of playing and listening.

Are you looking for thick and sludgy or clear midrangey clicky tone?

In my metal band, I use these settings:

bass 0
mid 0
treble 0
volume LOUD

(0 = 12 o'clock or "flat")

I used to play in a Melodic Death band when I was in high school. I normally boosted the mids a bit but generally ran flat. I'd turn up the mid knob on my bass and kicked on a slight bit of overdrive whenever the guitarist would solo so that I'd fill up the sonic territory lost when there's no rhythm guitar.

But I do like the idea of setting everything to 6.....\m/

And make sure to tune your bass to D-E-A-D tuning.

Turn everything up all the way and you'll have Metal Death.

What's the difference between this and just turning up the volume a little?

I don't think anybody that played or plays that style (?) listened to anybody. The dudes in the band were all maxed out so the bass went - SVT-CL or the equiv. gain 10,bass 6,treble 6 and vol. 7 to start..( 2) 810 cabs and then turn it up, I mean you are on your own....................................
