Can Bass Amps Be Used As A PA? (Peavey TNT 115)

Sign in to disble this ad
I've no idea so that's why I'm asking. I have the chance to buy one in mint condition, not sure how old it is, the covers seem to change, but it is this one:

Anyone know when this was made? The front covers seem to vary a bit from what I've seen online.

Seller is looking for just under 180 quid, good deal? I am buying simply to have a backup amp just in case (for small gigs etc).

My main question, sometimes our singer has crap PA's, can this be used? Is it any good, or are PA amps the only things one can use?

Cheers

Disagree: A good bass amp will do double duty as a PA just fine. A real PA is better, but in a pinch...

It's not able to be mounted on a stand (as is an absolute necessity with PA), there isn't a second matched speaker, and it has no mic inputs/mixer. Totally unsuitable.

I have a Fender Rumble 100/115 which is somewhat similar to that
Peavey TNT 115. It works great as a PA. I have loaned it out to local
scouting and soccer organizations with a microphone. They continue
to request it. It also sounds great when you plug in an iPod. I was
playing music through it before a soccer match (where it was to be
used for announcements). The players liked it so much they almost
demanded that I bring it back for future events.

I have a 2004 PV TNT115 and had to use it as a PA once, it really didn't sound very good. Just my .02.
