Question Can I do this...?

Sign in to disble this ad
So I was thinking about how playing a bass through most guitar amps could cause damage to that amp, and also sound like ****. But what if I were to play a guitar through my bass amp? How would that sound? Would that not be a good idea? I have an ampeg b2re and an old peavey 2x15. Just a random thought.

Playing your bass through a guitar amp won't hurt the amp, but COULD fry the speakers. Guitar speakers cabinets are not built for the loud bass notes or major cone excursion.

As to using a bass amp for guitar, many prize early Fender Bassman amps for guitar. In fact bass setups usually do pretty well for guitars in general. My strat sounds killer thought my Ashdown.

YMMV etc.
