If you rewire the cab so you send one amp to half the speakers and the other amp to the other speakers

There are a number of ways to slave one amp off the other. However, they all involve having separate speakers for each amp. Connecting the two amps to a single 4 ohm load, will blow them up.

The closest you can get to running two amps in parallel with your existing 8*10 cab, is the option already mentioned: Have a tech rewire your cab with a second jack, so that it runs as two separate 4*10's.

This would be similar to the "stereo" wiring in some Marshall 4*12 guitar cabs, where you can connect two of the 12's to one amp, and connect the other two speakers to another.

The stereo wiring thing would work, but I'd be worried that the 400+ might be a bit much for just half of an 810e- at least when I gigged the Ampeg 810 and 400+ combo I blew 3 or 4 of the speakers in my cab over the years. It was an older model though, so I can't speak to their newer cabs. Guess it depends on what you are trying to do and what kinda volume levels you are trying to achieve and how much deep bass you are trying to push? Are you looking for a clean amp tone mixed with a dirty amp tone?

Please tell us what you are trying to achieve. I'll assume that you have two amps and a single speaker cabinet, and you want to utilize all of them, right? Are you needing more volume in a band setting?

Talk about your music needs. People here have probably solved the problems you're facing. Either way, good luck!
