Question Can I run Mesa boogie m6 di without running cab?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey all, I tried finding this info but with no luck. I just got a Mesa m6 carbine and was wondering if I could use the DI without hooking the head up to a cab?

Any help would be great. Thanks

I don't think you want to do that. It's not a DI.All that power has to go somewhere. From what I gather its like having 0 impadance, your head will burn up.
At least on a tube amp thats how it works.Maybe with a SS amp its different.Still its not made to be used as a DI.
Don't risk it go get a DI box, there's lots of good ones.

Yes, it's a solidstate power amp, and can be run with no load all day. So yes, you CAN do that.

Not at all Moebass. Running a SS amp without cab = infinite impedance so it will be ok to use only the DI.
It's absolutely forbidden on a Tube head.

Having no cabinet attached creates an infinite impedance. Zero is a full short. Simplistically the power is created by voltage from the output stage interacting with the load. With no load there is no power. Any SS amp without an output transformer can safely be operated without a load. A tube amp on the other hand always requires a load.

Yes you can if you got a PA mixing board to plug into. Some PA systems have inadequate monitors for bass, however.
