Can I use an HR Deville for Bass?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello,

I've been a guitarist for many years and have a Danelectro Longhorn on the way for my son (and me too . I have a couple of low wattage amps, a 1X12 bottom with a Celestion Alnico Gold, and a Fender Hot Rod Deville 4x10 combo.
Could I use safety use the Deville for bass at low volumes without causing damage to it? I figure its probably Ok because its 60 watts and multiple (alnico?) speakers, but want to be sure.
Thanks!

Listen carefully to those speakers, if they strain or start rumbling at all, turn down right away. Open backed guitar cabs are horrible for bass, but as long as you keep the volume low, you'll be ok.

I used a regular Blues DeVille 4x10 for bass and more quiet rehearsals, it worked just fine. It won't get very loud though.
