Can I use my head to record onto a computer?

I have a gk 800rb and want to record demo's on my friends mac computer with his Fast track pro. I've only heard of people micing the guitar/bass cab with a head. Can I do this or will I just have to buy a Sansamp/ or another preamp?

Jimmy is right. No adapter required, though. (I have used the Fast Track Pro. XLR into either of the first two inputs. Might need to turn the gain all the way down, since I have not found a way to defeat the preamp entirely, and the XLR signal should be line level.)

That's about it.

The effects send should work okay, also.

So far I've never got a really clean signal using XLR out of of an amp...mic or pre is the best in my humble opinion...

Correct. And just adjust the gain as you usually do. If the signal is too low for your recording needs, just turn up the gain of the microphone preamp on the Fast Track, which, to start, you should have at zero.

No problem. PM me if you have any issues, or check out the Recording forum on TB.
