Can i use my old combo as a cab?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey all!

I have just bought one of these !

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...ef=oss_product

I allready own one of these :

Ashdown ABM C210-500 EVO II 2x10 Bass Amplifier Combo | eBay UK

I was wondering if i could use the Ashdown as an extention cab for the markbass combo at larger gigs!!

Another question !!
Will the Markbass be as loud as the ashdown? i know they are rated similer ,so i would guess so.

The main reason for buying a new combo is becuase im finding the asdown to be too heavy to lug up stairs.

I'm hoping my new combo(the MB) will sound as good as the ashdown and will be loud enough to fill pubs and clubs....the ashdown could do this no probs for 90% of my gigs .

But out side is when i think i will need an extra cab. No money to buy an extra cab atm,so back to my original question .

Thanks in advance all!

Yup....it'll work.

Several ways you could do it.

- Run Line Out of Mark to Input of Ash

- Split bass signal into 2, 1 to mark, one to ash

- Modify Ash with direct to speakers jack, and use Ext Speaker out of Mark (if it has one)

So all i would need is a speaker lead? You mean the "line input" round the back of the Ash??

Thanks for the reply!

I would first try the Line Out of Mark to Input of Ash (normal front input)....that way no mods are needed.

Just use a normal guitar cable....that way you can alter the level and tone of the Ash.

Both amps will get basically the same signal, but can act independently.

there were hints of only using the speaker... 2 power amps to 1 speaker is not a fun comnbo

Ok, better to throw a spanner in the works and make sure that doesn't happen!

DO NOT RUN THE SPEAKER OUT TO ANOTHER AMP!

Just had a look at the links. My only experience with Ashdown Blueline gear was very lacking. I'd expect the Markbass unit to read it it's pedigree.

Sell the Ashdown and buy another cab that works with the Markbass.

Yes, sell the Ashdown, get an ext cab for the Markbass combo. You're good to go.

I agree, I have the Markbass combo and the money you could get from the Ashdown would go toward a nice 15" or 2x10 cab.

Yes i agree. I will sell the AD rather than use it as a cab.

TBH if this MB is as loud as the AD then i won't often need an extention cab for the places we play.

to answer this question, you must know first what the internal 410's are, (4 ohms/8 ohms), and IF they're 8 ohms, and IF the amp has an ext spkr jack, then yes, you can add another 8 ohm 410, and you'll get approx an 6 dB increase, which is alot.
