can one test a cab with a peavey basic112 combo?
If so, how? I did what I said I wouldn't do and bought a practice amp, but it just fills up the bedroom; doesn't shake the walls. So, I eventually will get a power amp that works (unlike the GTD Audio T-4500), and would like to test cabs with the Peavey combo. The Vintage Ampeg 8x10 is still for sale; as is an Acoustic B410 for a hundred bucks. Must test them though.
Anyway I can test a stand alone cab with my Basic 112?
Combo has Input, Pre-amp input; pre-amp output and headphones out.
Quick answer, NO!
You need a speaker level output. If you had access to a power amp, you could use the pre-amp output to power amp to cab. None of the existing outputs have enough juice to drive a speaker cab.
dambit! looks like I'll be taking my power amp to a pro (yes even among the rice fields, literally). Thanks, for the response.
don't think I can handle the months of sending it in to manufacturer on my freight dime both ways.
