Can you identify this Univox 6X? cab? Worth buying?
Saw this cab at a local Goodwill for $80.
Looks to be in good shape.
The head was nowhere to be found however.
So my question is, is this worth buying as a rehearsal or small gig amp? I'm a new player, and so far I just have a small practice sized Ampeg.
If I were to purchase an item like this, what kind of replacement head would I need to buy to make it useful?
Sorry for being such a noob on this, but you have to start somewhere. I did quite a few google/bing searches, but concrete info on Univox stuff like this is hard to come by. Especially when the item has no visible model number on it.
Thanks for any advice, and obviously time is of the essence if I don't want it to get bought while I'm doing my research.
Well unless anyone looking has a SkyDrive account you can't view the pic.
And I thought I disabled that issue.
Trying again, and sorry.
If there's a better/easier place you guys typically share your pix from, I'd gladly switch.
As I've kept digging, it seems to look like this is a U610, as described here:
They seem to be positioning it as a "lead" speaker not a bass speaker.
Still leaves me wondering what I would need to use as the amp to make it work.
No expert here but I'm guessing a guitar cab might work OK at bedroom level but wouldn't get low enough/loud enough for either practice or a small gig. The speakers aren't designed for it. If you want a bass cab, buy a bass cab. The price on the Univox may be good, but if it isn't useable it's worth zero. IMHO
Thanks, yes that seems to be what I've read over the last 16 hours through more research. Good guitar cab, but not right for bass. I actually need a guitar amp for our practice room as well, so maybe I'll pick it up for that purpose and keep looking for my next bass amp.
