Can you play guitar through a bass cabinet?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey, whats up guys. I have an older cab with 2 10's and 1 18", EV speakers, that my guitarist has been running through lately. Will this hurt the cab? I didn't think so, but I wanted to a second opinion. I am not running through it at the moment, just guitar.
Thanks.

i may not sound great, but it shouldn't hurt the cab at all.

Oh Yes

I have a small Marshall guitar amp. It has a great preamp,
but it has a small speaker and puts out a loud sound that
is all treble.

If I hook my bass amp to the line out on the Marshall the
result is awesome.

I mean, it rivals a real Marshal half stack.

yeah. I have tried it a few times, and it always sounds weird to me. The only time I kinda liked it was when I was playing doom and a friend ran an Ampeg 410HE (tweeter shut off) for super low-tuned, super distorted guitar,

+1 to the above, as proven by the legendary '59 Bassman, one of the all time great guitar combos.

The guitar will explode. The strings will catch on fire. The bridge will pull off of the body and the neck will bend completely in half.

Ok..One of my guitar people played through one of my cabinets for a while because his cab broke. Also, another of my guitar people used my Gibson Thor for a couple years because he didnt have an amp. Bass has a pretty wide frequency range.

I know I was pretty pleased when I plugged my little acoustic (Ibanez AES10EAM) into my GK MB210 combo (horn on). It was the final nail in the coffin for my Fender acoustasonic jr, which I will now sell.

I have done it before and vise versa playing bass through a guitar cabinet. I never turned it up way loud, but the sound did sound weird to me too.

Yeah, and you would be doing the same as Josh Homme from Kyuss.

You won't hurt it, and some do double duty quite well. Check this out
