Can you suggest me an amp/stack?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm currently on a budget and need a good amp for club shows. Not counting tax or warrentees, I'm looking for something no more then $600. My main bass is a Schecter Stilletto Custom and I play mainly classic rock, with some modern hard rock as well. Any suggestions?

I should state right now that I'm buying new. I'm not going into details why, but I'm buying new.

Buy Used!!!!! or Gallien Krueger MB210 combo to start and then when you get more $$$ buy an additional 210MBE cab.... 500 watts and 4-10's should do the trick.....

Acoustic 200h w/ 115 is $350, you could get another cabinet within your budget, and would be plenty loud/rock ish.

One of my choices was actually the 200h w/ B410. Is the 115 loud enough to play in a club?

No worries. Your advice did help. It was my fault for not saying "new". I currently have a used Peavey amp that works nicely for practice but is awful at live shows (even open mic nights).

It's all good bro... are you wanting a combo or head+cab? I'm not sure that I would go with Acoustic....

Preferably a head+cab combo but a good combo amp is good as well.

Depends on the size of the club but probably. I was just saying at MF the 200H w/ 410 is $550, so you could get the 200H w/ 115($350) and the 410 separate for $650, and have plenty of amp/cab for a variety of situations. $650 is way cheap for a new full stack.

What I may actually do is by the 200H w/ 115 first. Down the road I'll by the 410 seperately. We have a few shows coming up so I'll have an idea at our next show if I need a bit more "umph".

Plus the Mrs. didn't sound too thrilled when I mentioned how much I was originally planning on spending

May I suggest the Hartke 5210C Combo. You can get an extension cab later because the LH500 head gives you 500 Watts that could handle a 115 cab extension with no problem.

It's $650 at Sam Ash.

If you MUST buy new, then yeah, the Hartke LH stuff is great, and the AK cabs are great.

You can get better stuff if you buy used though.

Yeah, it seems like a good start into stacks. The only thing I'm not too thrilled about with them is the weight. A GK mb200 with the 210 extension is a light weight and you could always get another 210 for extra oomph but just the head with one is about your price limit that the mrs. isn't too psyched about.

Ampeg Micro VR & the 210 that comes with it would be my recommendations if I had to go new.

I used to have this. Ashdown mag 300. Used to own the 5 string version of the bass you have too. they both sound great together. I ran it with a mag 410 and 115. it was very very loud. it may push you a little over budget. But it sounds good. Either cab alone with this head sounded great too.
