| This is your typical commercial sealed cab, so you see the typical drop-off begin taking place just above 100 Hz. The -3dB point is 85 Hz. The -10dB point is 53 Hz. Depending on your amp, how much bass boost you use, your playing style, your instrument, and whether or not you have a subsonic filter in your signal chain, you will run out of cone excursion anywhere between 30 watts and 120 watts, and of course a bit higher if you run a very middy tone for slap. I ran the WinISD model with PS10 drivers, which is what I assume Carvin's using in this cab. If it's a different set of drivers they're using, someone let me know and I'll re-run the model, if I can find the driver T-S params. Sounds like a reasonably competent (and priced) sealed 410 cab as long as you go into it with your expectations properly set, and don't ask of it what it can not do. Not sure how (or if) that cab is lined, but if it isn't, or if it's only minimally lined, then there may be some opportunity for marginal DIY improvement. Don't forget to check the bass amp forum on the Carvin boards to see if anyone's posted anything on that model. |
