How comparable would this be to an Ampeg or SWR 8x10?

It is not AT ALL like an Ampeg 8x10. It is ported and all one chamber, with a tweeter/crossover. Ampeg is sealed, each 2x10 has separate chambers, and no crossover/tweet. The Carvin is also a bit smaller and lighter.

The Carvin will sound similar to two ported 4x10 cabs with tweets. Will go lower than the Ampeg, not as tight, more bright.

Well if it goes lower, and is brighter, I think I might get it. Thanks!

Is there anyone who can compare this to an SWR 8x10?

Forgot to mention, I have one of these cabs and right out of the box the midrange was a bit blurry sounding. When I opened it up, only the back wall was padded. I added mattress foam to the interior surfaces and it helped tremendously.

Damn, I do run a somewhat flat EQ so that could be a problem. Thanks for the heads up.

I have an older Red Eye RL 810,and I love it. Best cabinet I have in my Carvin arsenal for large,or outside venues. Hopefully the BR series in this size sounds as good as the older Red Eyes. I have not been too happy with the new Br410N,or the BR115N I have.
