Carvin amp trade-in !

Soo... I've had an old Carvin R1000 head for years, and the damn thing broke when it was right out of warranty. So, that's not good, but I found out something interesting today at Carvin in Hollywood:

They're not repairing any older amps that contain lead (such as the Redline series), but they are offering a trade-in incentive that is really quite solid. If I bring in my busted-ass R1000, they'll knock off 300 bucks from the B2000, and 225 off the BX1500. The only bummer is they won't let you trade "down"; so in other words you can't take an R1000 in and get the discount on a BX500 or any sort of combo amp. Damn, I actually want a BX500 too...

I think that's not a bad deal all in all though. Kudos to Carvin, and the SB5000 in stock was awesome too.

Is the trade only of older Carvins, or will they trade on other older iron as well?

abarson: This only applies to old Carvin amps. And apparently, they don't care if they work or don't work, same discount either way.

Maybe it's a California only offer?

I just sent back my second BX500. The first one went 8 months then started having inconsistent volume issues. The second one lasted 2 weeks before the power just flat out failed. I'm stepping it up to the BX1500. Maybe they'll be more consistent quality with that one. Plus, I can put it on single amp and run 300w to the BR510 combo I got with the first head, or rack it and hook up to a BRX 410 cab... I like the options. And they gave me a discount for upgrading too. Great customer service, although I'd prefer not to have to deal with them.
