Carvin b1500 distorting

Sign in to disble this ad
To anyone out there that has experience the the Carvin b1500 amp:

I've had this great sounding head for about 5 months and have been using it as my main amp for all gigs. when practicing at a low volume, i usually crank the gain all the way and barely turn up the master. I just like that sound. Lately when trying this, i've noticed that even at a low volume, i get real distortion. I mean it sounds really cool, however, i don't remember ever getting to the point where it breaks up and distorts like this. Is this normal for the b1500? When you crank the Gain all the way up should it slightly distort when really digging in? Or is this a malfunction? Remember, this is at a very very low volume so i don't think it could be my speakers.

Thanks!!

I usually have the drive control on my B1500 at about noon. At its minimum position, there's too much volume reduction for my taste, and a maximum, too much distortion - especially if I'm driving the front end with a high-gain signal.

It's all about gain staging.
