On vacation and got to stop by the sd carvin store to try out some stuff. Just wanted to say briefly that the BX amps are everything they are claimed to be and more. Amazing stuff.

I was looking into the bx1500. I still will probably get one when I have the cash. Carvin amps are great. I use a redline r600 in my band.

The compressor is musical. The eq is super. The drive is even good. Definitely wouldn't hesitate myself. Had me considering rethinking my rig. Anyone know if the FX loop switching is smooth now?

I went to the same store and tried out all kinds of stuff (SB4000 bass, various amp combinations, PA stuff). Already had a BX1200 and bought an MB10 in blue from a dude named Flock. Good guy.

If they had that bromberg bass in fanned frets I would have walked with one of those. Very very nice bass.

RP, I'm getting dangerously close to selling most of my pre/power stuff. The BX1500 has me believing, so far !

BX500 here. Can't say enough good about it. Reasonably priced and USA made.

The need for pedals and in general fast mid song tone changes keeps me on pedal pre to power amp for now. You tried to footswitch the eq yet? Does the fx loop fsw?

Nope, the footswitch does not come stock with the amp. Hell, I've had it for a week and I'm still finding endless possibilities for tone alone ! Right now, I'm running it bridged into my LDS, 3012HO, 212/horn cab, Scary !

I don't have one, but I've looked at the Carvin site in detail. Their forum indicates major reliability issues, in particular with the BX-500. What have you Carvin users noticed?

Have not visited their forum, but, I know that when the BX500 came out, they had some problems with the first run. I know because I owned two and had to send them back. But, later revisions seem to be bullet proof, although there will always be exceptions. I have not heard of any constant problems with the BX1500, though.

I have a pair of the newer BX 500's in my Carvin rack, and they get pushed hard. No problems yet. Just in case, I have my old reliable BX 600 for backup.

Just got my 1500 used. Previous owner reported no problems. I've had my 500 for a year. No problems.

I did experience an issue with my first 500 - I was an early adopter (bought about 1 month after release). But the replacement they sent me has been fine - but now I'm not gigging as much. They do seem to be susceptible to poor or underpowered circuits and this can make them shut down. So if you find that your entire band is on a single circuit, you may experience issues at least with the 500. I believe this to be true for most if not all of the very small very lightweight high power amps, i.e., they have less tolerance for poor wiring then the old brick sleds.

Has anyone used the EQ / Loop switching? is it clean/clear or are there pops or clicks or whatever?
