I've been eyeing it for a while and I'm just wondering, does it deliver enough output to cut through drums and guitar in a rock band? I go for a sturdy tone with a kick on high-mids and cut on high-lows, if that helps for anything.

Oh and one more thing. If its peak power handling is 500w @ 4ohms, what difference does it make to have a 2 ohm load?

yes

It gets stupid loud with a good 4 ohm cab (or cabs). If you add another cab later (2 ohms) it will still put out 500w but will be significantly louder due to additional speakerage (technical term).

Indeed. Stupid loud with my GK 212 MBE. I run with drive at noon, and master at maybe three. Much higher and my very deaf drummer tells me to turn down as he can no longer hear himself play.

(I think the term you're after there Jeff is "speakerosity" )

Yes, at 4 ohms this head really gets loud and sounds good. The cool thing, is you you still ad another cab and go to 2ohm. It is by far my favorite amp that carvin has made.

I have one and they indeed get loud. Lots of tone options too with the parametric section plus a really good graphic eq. I'm using a SWR Goliath (or two) with it. Love it!

I've been using one with two Carvin BRX410Neo cabs. Crazy, stupid loud. Sounds great too...you can't go wrong with it.
