Carvin bx500 took a dump

I've had this thing since they first came out. It has always been a little glitchy, but it's getting worse.
1st, the amp always pops when I unplug my bass with the mute switch activated.

2nd, ever since I got the amp, I would turn it on and my bass would only play at about 1/8 volume and it would be really farty. Then after a few minutes, it would start to work.

Well, lately this problem has been intensified and it is doing it more and more. It even is cutting out in the middle of a gig!

Any ideas? help? Will carvin deal with this?

They would have when it was still under warranty. You lived with it for too long. I'm sure they will service it for you, but it won't be free.

Floyd beat me to it.

The first revisions of the BX500 had problems. This is common knowledge.

Call 'em and ask what they want to fix it and bring it up to current revision.

Standard repair cost is $250 from their site. Call them and see what they say.

I too will agree that your inaction when the unit was still under warranty will cost you. Sorry. If something doesn't seem right with a purchase you should act immediately.

Yeah, I never realized there was a timed warranty...I guess I learned my lesson. They said they can't quote a price until they see it. I shipped it to them today. We shall see...I'll keep you posted.

I think I got the very first BX500 on this board and had it for 9 mths before it finally stopped working. No problems up until then. Carvin swapped it out for a new one no prob. Then back in mid-Dec. it just quit working again. I called Carvin because it was out of warranty and they sent me a return tag and told me to box it up and they would go to work on it. It took 3 1/2 weeks to get it back and they didn't charge me a dime; has worked ever since flawlessy. You probably should have sent it back when it was under warranty, but you never know they just might cut you some slack like they did me and not charge you at all to fix it. Give them a call, pronto.
