Carvin LS1503 or LM153?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've seen quite a few threads on using the Carvin LS1503 as a bass cab. How does their LM153 Neo cabs stack up against the LS1503?

Carvin.com :: LM153

Carvin.com :: LS1503

Has anyone tried their LM Series cabinets as part of their rig? I've heard good things about the LM Series Cabinets. I've yet to play thru a Neo cab. So,I have no experience on the different tonal characteristics of these cabs. Opinions?

It really depends on what you need from your cab.
If you just need monitor on stage, and you don't go for real bass heavy EQ, than I think it will be OK.

IMO, the LM153 does not have enough internal volume to produce sufficient low end as a stand alone bass cab. The frequency response figures reflects that when compare to the LS1503

My LS1503 is my home rig. To me it's on the broader line as a bass cab in stock form. Switching to the 3015 (non LF) makes it a lot better. But then I may need to switch to a beefier cross-over too, before I can safely put more power to it.

I tried using one of my LM153s as a bass cab and didn't like it. Just didn't have the lows.

LM...

My impression of the two is the LM is better designed to project mids/highs while paired with a SUB while the LS is built a little bigger/deeper for use as a standalone cab.
