The 112AG was a big surprise. I've been using one with my BX250 and BX500 for the last 18 months. It's a hidden gem.

I've been reading all I can on TB about these Carvins - I am looking for some advice between the MB110 and MB210. I need an amp for just learning songs at home and for rehearsal (with a drummer). I was considering a GKMB112 but the Carvin has caught my attention. I play in a cover band with 1 electric guitar, drums, bass and vocals - we are not a loud band at rehearsal.

1. what would be the difference in clean headroom between the 110 and the 210
2. is there a particular reason to buy the 210 over the 110
3. anybody have any 1st hand comparison between the Carvins and the GK MB112

thanks!

I don't have any experience with the mb210, but I would imagine it would be a bit louder cause of adding a second speaker. Also the 110 is sealed, the 210 is ported so will have a little more low end. for what you are looking for though the 110 would be fine and it is only 23 pounds, believe me it is light. Then you can add an extension cab if you need more grunt. I have practiced with my band with just the 110 it does just fine, but when I add the 112 extension it is more then enough.

thanks gearhead1972 - I am thinking the 110 will handle virtually every situation I need it for.

I would get the 210 for the potential headroom just in case you should need it. I bought my MB10 to use as a stage monitor and it does a stellar job. It definitely doesn't do loud and low but it can get loud. I keep thinking about adding an extension cab but can't bring myself to until I need it. On that note, I'll be using the MB10 for an open mic in about an hour. Up to three guitars, lots of vocals, maybe mandolin, accordion, a conga player, and various drummers. Most of that goes to the house PA. I can still DI to the PA if needed but want to try without the support. I'll report back later.

Don, this is my bands setup for a Halloween Party. 3 Guitars, Bass, Keys, Drums, Harp, 3 Backup/lead singers, 10 members. and with a 12" extension cab I never put the master volume past half way and there is plenty of bottom. You can just make out the MB just right of center in the back. Two 30 watt solid state and one 60 watt tube guitar amps.

Just ran a couple of sets. With a full band and drummer it struggles to keep up like I expected. It works perfectly as a standalone for acoustic sets that run through the PA though... Several hours to go!

I would use the 110 for playing along with a CD to learn a song and for the occasional practice with drums but not at gigging level by any means.

Gotcha. It held up surprisingly well against everything going on but I was also using my AEB and using a pick to cut when I needed to.

Am contemplating getting an MB10 in the very near future to go with my micro bass guitar (samick MCR-1 @ 34". Am also wondering if anyone has played or heard a blues harp played through one? A uke?

I bought the MB210 over the 110 as the 110 could not handle a B string at the volume that I needed.

Not cool. It's still under warranty, so I guess I'll be shipping it to Carvin this week ...
So, it's been six weeks, and I still don't have my MB10 back from Carvin repair yet. It took them a month to even look at it, and when the tech called two weeks ago, he said he couldn't find anything wrong with it. I explained again in as much detail as possible what was happening, and he said he'd keep looking at it, and ask someone else to look at it too. I called today - it's apparently been sitting there collecting dust for the last two weeks. Oh, but, you know, "We'll have someone look at it right away!" ... Needless to say, I am not happy.

Sorry, just ranting. I'll go take my meds ...

So I was pretty much set to pull the trigger on a MB110, but now leaning toward the 115, since I like deep sound. Honky midrange is the worst, plus I'll be doing some gigs/rehearsals with groups that are kind of in the middle of the volume spectrum. I don't play any hard rock, but funk and fusion are common. Anyone like the 115 for that? How does it work for doubling, and getting it around public transportation?

MB 210 vs MB 115

It's starting to look like a Carvin MB amp is going to be my ultimate choice in a month or two. I want a USA made amp and the other brands are considerably more. So much more that an extension speaker isn't really out of the question.

I need a good solid B string and I'm wondering if there is much difference between the 210 and the 115 model.

I don't have a way to go try them in the Carvin store, so here I am to ask what the experts on these amps think.

You folks seem to know these little amps. I feel I can trust Carvin.

Thanks to all who reply...

I wondered too. I have one on order that should solve yet another transportation issue. I have played for years, but I do not keep up with the products. Is the Eden WT550 still viable, or is it obsolete?

MB 210 low end?

Does the MB 210 put out a clean B string? I'm a bit concerned with the frequency response listed as 65Hz.

If I'm gonna buy one of these I don't want the lower notes on my Icon 5 to sound like dinosaur farts.

Can't afford the plane trip to go to CA and try it out.

Help!

Had my MB15 combo since November now. Played with a lot of different settings but I think I finally got my sound.

Drive - 1 oclock
Contour 2 oclock
Bass - 3 oclock
Compression 8 oclock
Low Mid - 4 oclock
Low Mid Freq 10 oclock
High mid - 1 oclock
High mid freq - 11 oclock
Treble - 2 oclock
Master - 4 oclock to 5 oclock

Thinking hard about adding that 15 cabinet

Do it. Adding the matching 15 turns it into a beast. Problem is, though, you'll never again be satisfied running just the MB15.

MB12 woes

I bought an MB12 from Carvin,it had cabinet noise when playing an E note. ( new, right out of the box)
Sounded awful, I sent it back the next day.
Carvin called me an said it is a design flaw, and they are going to have to do re-design work on this.
I asked about the other models, the guy said he did not want to ship me another again & again.
I cannot believe they all do this,
Some of you are happy with the MB series.
To me it seemed like plywood delamination sounds.
They ssaid they tried caulk, and no fix from that.
The very short time I had it, I must sayy the tone was ok,but not as clean & deep as my G_K microbass
I am out well[over $100.00 for shipping to Canada.
If this was a first Carvin purchase,it would be my last one for sure.
I do have a fair bit of Carvin products of which I am happy. But this upset me a lot.
