Carvin RL410T vs. Guild/Hartke 4x10
So I've got a line on a couple of cheap cabs on Craigslist. Ones a Carvin "Red Eye" 4x10 and the other is a Guild/Hartke 4x10 with no horn.
Obviously I can't ask which one would sound better since that's highly subjective. However, I'd like to know people's opinions on which one would match better with what I already have.
I've currently got a Peavey Firebass 700 head and a Hartke 1x15 XL. From what I've read, the Carvin cab would take more power, but would also need more power to really thump. Since the cab is 8 ohm (I think), would the 275 watts from the Firebass be enough?
Conversely, I'm having trouble finding solid info on the Guild/Hartke cab, but I've seen posts claiming it's only rated at 240 watts. That seems awfully low to me for a 4x10, but it is pretty old. Can anyone verify this, and if so, would I be really stupid to try throwing an extra 35 watts at it?
I'm worried about getting enough lows from either since I play a 5-string. However, the Hartke 1x15 I already have handles lows pretty good, and I've got a janky Peavey TNT combo converted into a 1x15 cab with an Eminence PA driver I could throw into the mix...
