Casters/castors on amp? Any recommendations for types?

Couldn't decide on the forum so mods move if needed please

At my slave guitarists request, I built a platform for my bass amp to add castors. I didn't want to drill any more holes in it and couldn't match up with the old holes that were there, so I took a piece of plywood, notched out the corners so the rubber feet could stick through, added 4 small castors (100lb capacity, about 1.5" wheels, locking type) I got on clearance , and used velcro to secure it to the bottom of my amp. So far, so good. Removable if the amp's going in my truck or if we play somewhere I don't trust the wheels, but stays on just fine the rest of the time.

However, I'm noticing the castor wheel material seems to be soft, it's picking up pieces of the sidewalks and stuff already. I know nothing about ordering castors . Anyone know of a specific place to buy castors at a reasonable cost that are a harder material? I looked at a few music sites because I thought for sure they'd sell em for amps, but only found the kind that pop into recessed holes. The idea is to not add holes so that won't work.

After seeing my bass amp dolly....now the guitarist wants me to build him a platform for his amp. So I'd like to get better castors for his .

I made a few dollies from 3/4 ply but I used the largest casters I could find: four to six inches in diameter. The larger wheels get over obstacles with ease.

rptrsn2-I'm aware of where normal casters are, but they've all been the softish type. No hard ones. Employee's aren't exactly knowledgeable about casters every place I've asked so far

Paul-I was going to use the big ones, but then I'd run into some issues with loading/unloading and space constraints . The platforms' not intended for use to push the amps anything further than a few feet, too many horror stories of casters getting caught in sidewalk cracks and dumping cabs over for my tastes. We use the handtruck for distance . Was considering making a platform that we could load all the stands and stuff on and pull it in one trip, but where to put it was the problem, couldn't figure out a way to make it collapsible.

My other thought was skateboard wheels, those are pretty durable, but they don't swivel.......

Not cheap, but the ones Mesa/Boogie sell are high quality and very durable.

I have 4 of these mounted onto the bottom of each of my 410 cabinets. The casters slide in and out easily.

Genz-Benz include these with their casters on their new XB-3 Series cabinets.
