Cats and Tolex

I'm having Don at LDS build me a nEarful 15/6/1
I haven't decided on the finish yet, though.

I have cats. I have dogs too, but the cats are the issue for the cabinet.

I like Duratex - it's tough. But it's only available (through Don) in black.

I haven't had Tolex on a cab in forever. Don offers some really nice looking Tolex. For those of you with cats - is Tolex a no-no?

Cats seem to dig carpeted enclosures more. One of our Yamaha PA speakers has a fluffy side from the drummer's stupid cat, who also scratched my wife.

Cat's goin' down. Don't know how or where, but DOWN.

And our tolex is safe from cats, but not tailgates, stairs, or doorjambs.

I voted Tolex. I'd say choose what you really want. I've had cabs with tolex and cloth grills, and my cats and dog haven't paid any attention to them. Can't say the same about carpet-covered cabs, though. If they start getting too interested, you could always give 'em a few dB's of slap bass

Maybe your PA and wife are the stupid ones.

My cat digs my rat-fur covered practice amp, but she won't go near my tolex.

Do a cool color tolex. If you're getting a custom cab built, don't sacrafice the looks because of your cat. Get whatever you want!

I have two cats in my house. I've had Tolex, carpet, and cloth grilles on my amps.
The thing about cats and amp furnishings is a cat can't wreck your gear if it has no claws.

backing this - its yo money, obviously you dont want your cats to ruin your new gear but you could get a cover for the cab.

Colored tolex, keep the door shut if it's that big of a concern.

My cats will destroy carpet, but they don't care about tolex.
They like to rip into grill cloth, too.

Why not get the cab naked and apply a custom duratex?

Just get rid of the cats. Problem solved.

A cover is the solution IMO. Then you can get anything you want. Keeps cats away from the grill cloth too.

I find it's the opposite. People put up with all kinds of crap with cats that I'd never tolerate from my dog.

Use some sort of citrus spray. Cats can't deal with the smell.
