chassis rust? how do you deal with it?

subject pretty well sums it up...

aside from removing components and breaking out the wire brush and rattle can...

i am not really worried about removing it so much as i am about stopping its progression, and moreover, preventing any rust scale from flaking off and doing something nasty to the electronics at the most inopportune time (which is inevitably when it would happen).

if this were machinery, i would do a light (or not so light, depending on the implement) mist of 40 or something similar, but this doesnt seem so bright around that kind of voltage.

Depends on what the amp is. If it is a vintage classic that is worth the time and effort, I'd strip down to the chassis and have it sandblasted and plated or enamelled.
