Cheap 112 for rehearsals/small gigs

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all! I wanted to throw out this question to you all. I currently play through a Markbass Tube 800 and Aguilar DB212. I absolutely love the tone I get out of it. I am extremely short on funds right now, so a DB112 is out of the question, but I need something easier to schlep around.

I have been considering an Eden EX112 or a Carvin LS1202 PA speaker that could be uses for other purposes too. Another factor is that I live in Hawaii and shipping cabs just sucks. So I don't want to have to return or swap out later, if possible.

Does anyone have any experience playing through either of these? Or have another cheap solution (used PA speakers) I don't really want to spend $300 shipped, but that is my cap.

Thank you!

I have an ex112 and its a nice little cab for rehearsals, and a great cab for running upright bass through at gigs. Its pretty flat sounding, super portable.

I wouldn't push it and run high volume, though. The cab is just too small and you'd end up stressing the speaker, which although sounds clear as a bell at reasonable volume levels does not seem very robust and made to be pushed to the limit.

GK Neo-2. 349 shipped. I tried one based on Tom Bowlus' recommendation and he did not steer me wrong. Light, loud, low and cheap.
