Cheaper option for replacing Euphonic drivers

Sign in to disble this ad
My Euphonic VL-208 has developed a buzz. I'll have to figure out which driver (there are six), and replace.

Been down this road before with Euphonic factory replacements, and while they're the best choice, I recall that they'd only sell all five at one time, and I don't want to take that financial hit again if it turns out not be necessary. I'd be much obliged if anybody had any suggestions for cheaper options for the woofers, mids, or tweeter. And does anyone know who manufactures their drivers?

AFAIK Eminence, but that does you no good, as the drivers are probably OEM that you can't buy anywhere else but EA. If you knew the driver specs you could probably find an equivalent, but neither EA nor Eminence will tell you.

Here's the deal.

The VL-208 has 4 drivers and a tweeter. All of them can be ordered from parts express, but the folks at euphonic audio modify them before they are used in their cabs.

If you call EA, they will sell you as many or as few replacement drivers as you request. They will also tell you the ones you can get from parts express if you want them without the magic EA touch.

I had to replace all the drivers in my EA VL-208 a while back. I replaced the cheapest drivers first -- the 5.25" inch ones. In my case, the 8" woofers needed to be replaced as well.

Call EA, leave em a message. They are REALLY nice and provide EXCELLENT customer service.
