Cheapest, smallest yet great sounding loud little amp

Just curious about what's worth it out there, suitable for home practice at low volume, but also for occasional small band jams. Ideas ?

Yes. That Carlsbro amp in the classifieds. 150 W for under a bill. That's value.

I love the tone of my Acoustic B20 but it doesn't get real loud. Try one out.

I'm thinking 'bout buying new, if I do. I'm evaluating (again) if I should replace my big second amp for a smaller one... Price range say... under 750$... the less the better.

Markbass Markbass Markbass

Bang for the Buck: Markbass will astonish you in any price range.

I went for the MB Littlemark III 800w version but you don't need to go that high. I got mine on a weekend GC sale for
$540 by buying it over the phone with their home office.

Best money I ever spent. I push 2 Avatar B410 Neos with it
effortlessly. Sound, Punch , Tone, Flexibility, Reserve Power, it's got it all.

I'm jus' sayin' . . . .

I went looking at GC not too long ago for the same thing as the OP. I needed a small practice combo for home use with really no price range, but lets just say under a grand. Spent about 2 hours trying all the regular GC brands (Peavey, ampeg, GK, Acoustic, Fender). I also tried the markbass stuff and that sounded great, but just seemed overkill for what I wanted. Anyway, I ended up with a Fender Rumble 60.
Its built solid (kinda heavy), and had the most pleasing tone (IMO) out of all the other brands in the same price range. Very smooth sounding, little bit punchy (not MB stuff here), and had suprising low end. Also, its very quite with no hissing, all knobs turn smoothly and are tight, and no cheapness to be found for such a "cheap" amp. At practice, I also tried a BDDI plugged in through the power amp in jack, and was able to just about hang with the rest of the band of some of our tunes. (and we wear earplugs too!) I bet one of the newer Rumbles with more power would do the trick.

FWIW, you wanted opinions, this was mine. Decide what you really need, sounds like you might already have a "Pro" gig rig. These Fender amps are like $250 to $350, way under your budget. They are nice, try one.

The Fender Rumble 60 is a great sounding amp. If it was a little louder, I'd use one.

$750 in Canada isn't the same as $750 in the US (regardless of the exchange rate, we pay more, especially in Quebec). But it's still plenty.

There are a lot of choices in the 200-300W range for solid state. There are a lot of stores in Montreal to look around in. I personally use an Ampeg Micro-VR; sounds great, very portable and plenty loud. AND it is super cute!

all of these GK MB series are getting a lot of love on this forum. There are 4 models I believe and this is the smallest. I am planning to get just the head known as the MB200.

read some of the posts in the amp section.

The peavey max series of bass practice amps are great. They run upwards of $60 new. If you just want something that sounds pretty good just for practicing this is it.

"best" really doesn't mean anything.

The smallest most impressive small amp I've run into was the Line 6 Low Down Sound 1-10.. I think they're like $200
