I don't have 700 dollars for a live in case so check out what I did.
Cut out the bottom, some handle holes, and wheel holes.
One inch thick, foam padding on the speaker side!
If it was good enough to ship in a semi, I'm sure it will hold up in a trailer.
The cardboard is really thick BTW you can barely bend it.

I keep my bass in a case. My cab lives in the back of he van with the other animals. If we had cases on all our gear it would not fit!
I suppose if you are in a bigger touring band cases are good for idiot-proof load outs.
Or if you are planning on reselling your gear.
Not me. I keep it all, and when I die I plan to be cremated with it.
