Choosing a new Amp for less than 600€

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello there, this is my first post here :P

I want to buy a new amplifier, because technically I don't "have" one, been using my father's keyboard amp for a while.

So the models I've been looking at are:

-GK MB210, which is excelent for me as it weights only 16Kg, and mobility is almost crucial;
-Fender Rumble 350, but has some effects and is 100€ cheaper. Doubles the weight.

If these become too expensive, I'll buy the GK MB-115, which is also a good choice, I think, for 400€.

But if I had to choose between the first 2, which one is the best? I plan on using it for live concerts and in a room with a very noisy drummer.

Thanks!

Is the Fender Bassman 250 (either 210 or 115) available? If yes, then I'd seriously look at that.

I just bought the mb115 and have so far been very impressed with it. It was nice to get a great sounding amp with good volume and then there is the weight. I mean you just cant believe how light it is. After having put my back through the ringer for years carrying around heavy bass gear is is so nice to be able to throw my gig bag across one shoulder and grab my amp with one hand and my whole rig in one trip with no struggle or fight. All that and it sounds. The cost is so little that if you ever need more volume you could just add another one to your rig with an A/B box.

Was actually thinking of the MB210 because I can add an extension cabinet later. And it is as light :P

About the bassman... I'll see if it is available, seems a bit expensive online.

I looked at the Bassman 250/210 before I bought the mb115 and it is a seriously nice combo. The only problem I had with it was that the GC I go to had one out last week for $399. So I call them during the week to buy it and they told me that they had it miss priced and it should have said $699 on the tag, but it sounded like they were going to sell it to me for the $399 and I thought it was that they were on clearance and not that it had been miss priced, as they are no longer being made by Fender. Well to make a long story short when I went to GC on Friday they had changed the price to reflect the $699. Guess I cut my own throat, but oh well. Thats when I decided to play on the GK and was very happy to walk out only $350 out of pocket after using the $50 coupon they emailed me. Maybe it is just my GC but seem like they do this stuff all the time. One guy will tell you one thing and someone else will tell you something else.

I thought the same thing about the 210 but at $600 plus an extension cab. I got my 115 for $350 after a coupon and can pick up another one later and sill be out less money than the 210 with an extension. The 115 is just as light and I think I will end up spending less in the long run. I know I have spent less now and that combo puts out some serious volume for a 200 watt combo. I don't know of any issues using two combos, and the nice thing about it is I can leave one at the practice space and have one at home only bringing the two together for gigs. Even at 35 lbs it will be nice to not have to carry a amp out of practice. JMHO
