Clear coat for painted grille?

If this is in the wrong section, go ahead and move it.

I just had a friend paint the grille to my cab. The paint will chip since the grille is metal. What should I apply to the metal grille as a clear coat?

No, paints chip too easy because no primer was used. A clearcoat isn't going to help that.

Agreed - I used a decent quality paint on the metal grill of my Mesa PH610 to spruce it up a bit when I 1st got it, and after 2 years of gigging, it still looks great... I picked a Rustoleum product that looked the closest to the original finish, and it really does look like the original finish:

powder coat the grill, i do on harley parts and its nearly indestuctible, works great for that too
